Welcome to the Calder Valley Railway Ale Trail Webpage
A Real Ale Trail based on the Halifax to Manchester branch of the Calder Valley Railway Line.
Background
This trail offers an alternative to the often oversubscribed TransPennine Ale Trail. Slightly closer to Manchester, it runs on the the Western end of the Calder Valley (or Caldervale) Railway Line, on the leg from Halifax to Manchester Victoria. It offers a choice of a few more stations than the TransPennine Trail, some with quite a choice of pubs, we hope you'll find it fun.
Click through to the Pubs page for a list of all the pubs we've looked into so far. There is a link to a Google map from the station to the pub and a handy drop down list of the train times to your next stop to let you decide whether to stop for another swift pint or make your way back to the station for the next train. There are some trains from Halifax that don't stop at Sowerby Bridge or Mytholmroyd, but after about 12 O'clock there are trains approximately every half hour.
